Toronto Area Alumnae Chapter

What are dues and when do I pay them?

TAAC dues are $20 to be paid at the beginning of our year (May). For new grads, dues are only $10! Dues go towards our larger annual events such as our Annual General Meeting and our Santa Claus Parade get-together. Chapter dues are not the same as international alumnae dues (see below).

What does TAAC do?

Our executive team plans events for members to connect and keeps all members informed of Alpha Phi relevant information. Last year's events include Summerlicious, Blue Jays Game, movie night, and our Annual General Meeting held last year in the heart of Downtown Toronto.

What if I live outside Toronto?

Our chapter is named Toronto & AREA Alumnae Chapter because we are the closest alumnae chapter to many living in the Toronto area - all are welcome! If you are visiting the city from another area or country, let us know and we can try to set up a mini-event to welcome you!

How do I join?

If you are an Alpha Phi Alumna (graduated from an Alpha Phi collegiate chapter), click here to send us an email requesting to join. If you have a friend who wants to become an alumnae initiate, refer them to us through our email. If you have any further questions or comments, please email us also!

Do I have to go to every event?

Unlike some collegiate chapters, none of our events are mandatory. You can attend as many or as few as you please. As a dues-paying member, you will have access to our events calendar.

How do I get more involved?

Our executive team is elected for a two-year term at our Annual General Meeting. We have many committees and events throughout the year that we can always use help for so email us to get involved if you are already a member!

Can I join if I am a collegian?

We look forward to your graduation so you can join us in the alumnae chapter! New grads pay half-price dues for their first year - only $10 (less than 2 drinks at Starbucks) for one year's membership in your first year.

What are alumnae dues?

International alumnae dues are yearly contributions alumnae make to Alpha Phi International. They include your Founders' Day Pennies (a penny for every year Alpha Phi has been in existence) as well as dollars that help fund the ongoing programs, products, and services that keep Alpha Phi strong. By paying your dues, you are showing your outward commitment to Alpha Phi.

How much are dues?

Annual dues for 2017 (July 1, 2016 - June 30, 2017) cost $38.44 USD. As another option, you can pay lifetime dues in the amount of $450 USD and never have to worry about paying your dues again!

Where does my money go? Why are my dues important?

Alpha Phi International is constantly working on developing new, exciting programs and opportunities for its members. From the production of the award-winning Quarterly magazine to the colonization of new collegiate chapters, your dues help us improve the current and expand to new frontiers.

Why do I have to start paying dues now? I thought I was done paying when I graduated?

Actually, you've been paying your International dues throughout your college experience; they were included in the larger dues you paid to your chapter that included other costs (i.e. housing, merchandise or formals). You are an Alpha Phi forever but to remain in "good standing" and to benefit from all that Alpha Phi has to offer, paying your dues is essential.

What do I get from dues?

When you pay your dues, you receive a full subscription to the Quarterly magazine, a host of corporate discounts through Working Advantage and a one-year subscription to Self, Condé Nast Traveler, or Bon Appetit magazine! You may opt out of Self, Condé Nast Traveler, or Bon Appetit magazine by sending an email to

If I pay my International alumnae dues, does that mean I don't have to pay dues for an alumnae chapter?

International alumnae dues are actually separate from alumnae chapter dues. They help contribute to the International Fraternity as a whole. If you choose to join a local chapter, you may also be asked to pay local dues. Alumnae chapter dues vary by chapter and help fund events, social programs, newsletters and fundraising efforts specific to that group.
