Alpha Phi's lead by example and strive for continuous, innovative improvement. At the Toronto and Area Alumnae Chapter, a team of dedicated volunteer alumnae works together to host events and to bring fun and engaging opportunities for involvement to our members.
Elections for these positions are held at the Annual General Meeting; you can find out more about running for a position. Below is an outline of the positions we currently have on our executive team.
The responsibility of the President is to oversee the operation of the alumnae chapter. She coordinates with the International Executive Office and all members of the executive team to ensure the chapter continues to run and provide engagement for its members.
Vice President - Membership
The VP Membership’s responsibility is to establish a membership recruitment, retention, and recognition action plan for the chapter. She encourages a diverse membership by attracting women with different interests and in all stages of life, and maintains records of alumnae in the area and dues paying members of our chapter. She works in partnership with the Communications Chair to ensure member records are up to date.
Vice President - Programming
The VP Programming is responsible for all events and social functions hosted by the chapter, as well as the execution of any ceremonial events and the AGM. She develops an event calendar and coordinates with the communications and social media chair to advertise events to members. She also works closely with the Treasurer to budget events appropriately.
The Treasurer oversees the collection of dues from alumnae members and creates and maintains the budget, as the dues contribute to the operation of the chapter. She also keeps records, organizes and distributes receipts, and prepares and presents the budget to the chapter at the AGM for approval.
Digital Content Manager
The Digital Content Manager is responsible for updating the website and blog, and maintaining an accurate and detailed papertrail for the chapter, including recording meeting minutes for the executive team.
Collegiate Chapter Liaison
The Collegiate Chapter Liaison is the go-between for the alumnae chapter to stay connected with the collegiate chapter(s) it represents. At the Toronto and Area Alumnae Chapter we have three connecting collegiate chapter; Xi Chapter at the University of Toronto, Theta Eta Chapter at Western University and Iota Theta Chapter at Wilfrid Laurier University. The Liaison is responsible for reporting collegiate activities to the alumnae chapter so that they can offer support and attendance, as well as to welcome newly graduating sisters.
The Panhel Delegate represents the Alpha Phi Toronto and Alumnae Chapter at all Toronto Alumnae Panhellenic meetings, which are held between Alumnae sorority and women’s fraternities based in Toronto. She is the bridge between our organization and Panhel, allowing the chapter to work alongside our sisters in other organizations.
The Communications Chair is responsible for the production and distribution of event and activity information for the chapter. She works closely with the president and VPs to share relevant information with members, and to connect members with the executive where needed.
Social Media Director
The Social Media Director takes care of the chapter’s social media accounts and manages the chapter’s presence on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. She is responsible for executing our annual media campaigns and works closely with International Executive Office and the collegiate chapters to support their campaigns too.
